20 Things to Remember While Planning Your Wedding (Because We All Need a Little Laughter).

So you’re getting married! Congratulations! You’re probably also equal parts excited and terrified by the mountain of planning ahead. Fear not, dear reader, for I, a weary wedding planning veteran (who may or may not have cried over a Pinterest board at 3 am), am here to offer some pearls of wisdom.

1. Breathe.

Seriously, take a deep breath. This is supposed to be fun (most of the time).

2. Budget Like a Boss.

Be honest with yourselves about what you can afford. Remember, fancy doesn’t always equal fabulous.

3. The Guest List is a Beast.

It will cause arguments, but remember, it’s YOUR day. Aunt Mildred who pinches your cheeks and judges your life choices? Maybe skip her.

4. The Venue is the Foundation.

This sets the tone for everything. Think “rustic charm” or “chandeliers and ballgowns”?

5. Don’t Forget the Plus Ones!

Social media stalking doesn’t count as an RSVP.

6. Delegate Like a Ninja.

Your bridesmaids and groomsmen aren’t just pretty decorations. Use them!

7. Cake or No Cake?

It’s your call, but frosting in your hair is a bad look.

8. Flowers:

Fragrant Friends or Foes? Beautiful blooms can break the bank. Consider in-season options or DIY arrangements (just maybe with some practice beforehand).

9. Photos:

Capturing Memories (and Crazy Dance Moves). Find a photographer whose style you love. Trust me, blurry iPhone pics won’t do justice to your air guitar solo.

10. The Dress (or Suit!):

Find Your Perfect Match. Don’t be afraid to try on something unexpected. You might be surprised by what makes you feel amazing.

11. Food Glorious Food!

People come hungry, leave happy. But remember, gourmet doesn’t have to mean boring.

12. Entertainment:

Getting the Party Started. Live band, DJ, or karaoke machine? Pick something that fits your vibe and gets those guests moving.

13. Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.

There will be hiccups. A centerpiece might wilt, or your uncle might give a toast that sounds suspiciously like a political rant. Roll with it!

14. Communication is Key.

Talk to your partner! Discuss your visions, concerns, and anxieties. No mind reading here.

15. Schedule Like a Pro.

Factor in travel time, hair and makeup, and that all-important pre-wedding dance party with your besties.

16. Say “Yes” to Help.

Offers from friends and family? Take them up on it! Free labor is a beautiful thing.

17. Take Breaks!

Wedding planning is a marathon, not a sprint. Schedule some downtime for yourselves.

18. Focus on What Matters.

It’s about celebrating your love, not creating a Pinterest-perfect day.

19. Enjoy the Journey.

The planning can be fun! Savor these moments with your partner, your friends, and your soon-to-be spouse.

20. Remember, It’s YOUR Wedding.

Do what makes YOU happy. This is the start of your forever, so make it a day you’ll never forget (for the right reasons).

Now go forth and conquer wedding planning! And if all else fails, there’s always elopement .
